Please understand that we are not trying to diagnose you here but just give you an idea of some warning signs to look for if you are feeling sad or anxious or if you have friend that has been down lately. Signs of Depression:

  • Loss of interest in normal daily activities
  • Feeling sad or down
  • Feeling hopeless
  • Crying spells for no apparent reason
  • Problems sleeping
  • Trouble focusing or concentrating
  • Difficulty making decisions
  • Unintentional weight gain or loss
  • Irritability
  • Restlessness
  • Being easily annoyed
  • Feeling fatigued or weak
  • Feeling worthless
  • Loss of interest in sex
  • Thoughts of suicide or suicidal behavior
  • Unexplained physical problems, such as back pain or headaches

Signs of Worry vs. Anxiety

Worry:

  • Your worrying doesn’t get in the way of your daily activities and responsibilities
  • You’re able to control your worrying
  • Your worries, while unpleasant, don’t cause significant distress
  • Your worries are limited to a specific, small number of realistic concerns
  • Your bouts of worrying last for only a short time period

Anxiety:

  • Your worrying significantly disrupts your job, activities, or social life
  • Your worrying is uncontrollable
  • Your worries are extremely upsetting and stressful
  • You worry about all sorts of things, and tend to expect the worst
  • You’ve been worrying almost every day for at least six months
